Crown Steel, IDB, Zultec in semis

JEDDAH: Crown Steel, Islamic Development Bank and Zultec all reached the Summer Premier semifinals, while My Care Green, My Care White, ATS, Attieh Steel, Universal Coil, Fuchs Hamrani, Crown White and Otex are in the knockout stage of the Morning Tournament which is sponsored and managed by the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA).
In the last round matches of the round-robin league the IDB humbled Zultrack by six wickets as Zultec got through to the last four thrashing Dopco Stars.
Zultrack batting first piled up 211-3 in 20 overs with Emaad Shams celebrating his inclusion in the Under-19 Saudi team with an innings of 78 off 48 balls. Chand made 69, while Khadim contributed 27. Ijaz took 2-32 for the IDB.
The bankers in reply batted with confidence as Abubaker hit 62 and Mohammed Riyaz Khan remained unbeaten on 50, Ijaz added 35 to help the team reach its target for the loss of four wickets.
In a crucial match Dopco Stars using the track first put on 195-9 against Zultec.
Maqsood scored 49, Shahbaz 37 and Usman Ali 33. Khalid Iqbal took 2-25. Zultec in reply got to the target of 197 for 7 in 18 overs to be in the semis. Abdullah Essa scored 54, while Anis Malik added 41 and Usman hit 22. Shoeb Ali took four wickets for 31 runs as Shahbaz bagged 2-27 for Zultec.
In the Morning matches Attieh Steel went down to Johnson Control by four wickets as Attieh Steel batting first put on 165-7. Shahid Choudhry and Massod contributed 31 runs each as Shahid Shoukat made 25. Waseem took 2-30 and Saeed 2-33 for Johnson Control.
Johnson Control in response was home with 166-6 as Nadeem smashed 68, Farruk Shahbaz added 32 and Asad scored 24. Shahid picked up 2-38 for Attieh.
In another match My Care Hala White plundered 225-3 vs. Universal Coil mainly through Salman, who hit 133 off 68 balls as Shahid made 37. Universal Coil in response was bowled out for 140 thus losing by a huge margin of 85 runs as Laiq made 24, Waseem 21 and Ahmed 20. Adil bagged 2-20 for Whites.
ATS achieved the winning target of 175-4 in 16.3 overs against Fuchs Hamrani as veteran Ayaz Jafri hit 26-ball 51 with 10 fours, Vivian Kumar hit 40, Pervez made 38 and Ashfaque 24. Earlier, Hamrani hit 171 in the allotted 18 overs.
The last match of the day saw Crown White beat Otex to be on top in Group C.
