Exciting win for Reel & Rom in JCA Jotun Cup

JEDDAH: Reel & Rom scored an exciting last ball win against Pak Young, Deccan Knights beat ACC by 40 runs, defending champion Young Athletes beat Butt Sports Club by 43 runs, while Desert Warriors downed Ghudaid-XI by 10 runs in the third week matches for Jotun Paints Cup in Jeddah Cricket Association's Division II action.
In the first match Franky's Reel & Rom made 225-5 in 18 overs and then restricted Pak Young to 224-7 in 18 overs to claim an exciting one-run win.
Franky opener Wajid made 51 runs, Imran Khan added 63, Munir Ahmed 20, Abdul Rehman 26 and veteran Yaqoob 11. Fast bowler Amjad claimed three wickets and Hussain Abbasi one for Pak Young.
Pak Young in reply fell short by one run. Nisar scored 52, Hussain Abbasi 48, Ashfaque 31, Fazal 14, Jamshed 16, Riyaz Afridi 18 and Gohar Tauqeer Shah 10. Left-arm spinner Munir Ahmed took three wickets, Jamil two, while Imran Khan and Yaqoob bagged one wicket each for Reel & Rom.
In the second match Deccan Knights batting first scored 180-7 in 18 overs and then restricted ACC to 140 to win the match by 40 runs.
Syed Meer (Pappu) was Deccan Knights' hero as he took charge of the affairs after the early collapse of the top batting lineup. He played a patient knock of 53 runs while Anwar Shah added 52. Others who contributed runs were skipper Inayathullah 17, Najeeb 15, and Abbu 12. Azhar was the pick of ACC bowlers as he claimed 4-29, Nazeer 1-20, Jeenu John 2-43. ACC opener Syed Badaruddin made 67 runs, Mudassir 13 and Tinku 10. Mohammad Umar Suwadi took 3-23, Inayathullah 2-12, Syed Mohammad Afroz 1-30 and Rabbani 1-32.
The third encounter saw defending champion Young Athletes beat Butt Sports by 43 runs. Young Athletes batting first scored 222-9 in 18 overs and then bundled out Butt Sports for 179 to claim victory.
Iftekhar was Young Athletes' highest run-scorer with an unbeaten 60, Sami added 48, Khalil 39 and Raja 25. Sameer took two wickets, while Abdul Rehman, Javed Butt and Shani claimed a wicket each for Butt Sports.
In reply Butt Sports was shot out for 179. Junaid Butt made 64, Umar 27, Sameer 10 and Masood 11 runs. Sami took two wickets while Altaf, Atta, Ismail and Safdar bagged one wicket each for Young Athletes.
The last match of the day saw Desert Warriors beat Ghudaid-XI by 10 runs. Desert Warriors put on a target of 198-9 in 18 overs and then restricted Ghudaid to 188.
Fasiullah was the highest run-scorer for DWCC, while Muzammil added 26, Raziuddin 23, Abdul Quddus 12 runs and Mirza remained not out on 28. Abu Bakar and Irfan claimed two wickets each, while Mohammad Rafiq bagged three and Tahir took one.
Rizwan scored 49, Farhan 27, Abubakar 36, Irfan 15, Abu Bakar 36, Irfan 15 and Tahir 14 for Ghudaid-XI. Rehan took 4-32, Jawad 2-35 and Abdul Quddus 1
