YANBU: Befitting its name Maestro XI came out with all guns blazing in the final of the second YIC Saudi Students' Cricket Tournament which was sponsored by Saudi Cricket Center (SCC). It lifted the coveted trophy, beating Barcelona XI by 14 runs.
Barcelona XI won the toss and elected to field, hoping to take advantage of windy conditions. Man of the Match, Maestro's Yousuf Dawood Fatani, scored 40 runs with four sixes in a total of 101 runs. For Barcelona XI, skipper Abdullah Samman was the most successful bowler with five wickets.
Chasing a tough target of 102 runs, Barcelona XI was reeling at 14 for 3 with Qahtani bagging three scalps.
Abdulmajeed showed resistance scoring runs all over the ground but a reverse flick at 37 proved suicidal as he got caught behind the wicket off the bowling of Yousuf. Barcelona XI was packed up for 87.
Dr. Ahmed Dabroom gave away the trophy. Holding the trophy aloft the winning team did a victory lap amidst loud applause by the YIC students at the YACA ground. Outstanding performers were given special prizes.
