ALJ, Young Athletes, Sigma Paints prevail in Jotun Cup

JEDDAH: The second week of matches in the Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) Division-II tournament for Jotun Paints Cup saw ALJ beat Hyderabad Green-XI by five wickets; Young Athletes beat Pak Young-XI by seven wickets; while Sigma Paints beat Al-Khulais-XI by two wickets.
In the first match Hyderabad Green-XI, batting first, made 189 without loss in 18 overs. ALJ, however, in reply reached the target of 193 for the loss of five wickets in 14.5 overs to score a convincing win.
Mohammad Rayeesuddin scored a classic 123-run innings off 57 deliveries. He hit 15 boundaries and six sixes. His partner Anwar Ahmed Khan hit 50.
ALJ players had some other ideas in their mind. The hero turned out to be ALJ opener Adil, who hammered 46 runs off just 12 balls with the help of four boundaries and five sixes. Hamza fallowed the pattern making 43 off 14 balls (4x4s and 4x6s). Basheer added 30, Vijay remained not out on 28, Tanveer 18 and Zahid 12 not out to take their team to victory.
Majid bagged 3-34, while Rayeesuddin had 2-29.
The second match saw Young Athletes down Pak Young. Batting first Pak Young was bundled out for 130 in 16.5 overs. Young Athletes Athletes reached 131-3 in 12.5 overs.
Hussain Abbassi made 27 runs, Tauqir Shah 21 and Irfan 15 for Pak Young. Zakir 3-30, Iftekhar 1-7, Atta Ur Rehman 1-7, Riaz 1-9, Safdar 1-15 and Arif 1-22 were among the wickets. In reply the Athletes reached the target for the loss of three wickets in 12.5 overs, winning the match by seven wickets. Sami scored 41, Waliullah 40 not out, and Shad Mohammad Khan 33. Spinner Gohar Ali bagged 1-26, Amjad 1-29 and Riaz Afridi 1-31.
The third match saw Sigma Paints beat Al-Khulais-XI by two wickets. Al-Khulais batting first was sent packing for 155 in 18 overs. Hafiz Ismail scored 39 runs, Khalil 29, Taufeeq 27 and Aslam 15. Ribab claimed 3-20, Nadeem 2-19, Tabassum Jr.1-19, Saleem 1-29 and Tabassum Sr. 1-51 for Sigma Paints.
Sigma Paints in reply reached 160-8 in 18 overs for a close win. Ahmed Raza and Rashid scored 37 runs each, Zaheer 18, Asif 17, Arbab 16, Tabassum Jr. 15 and Nadeem 10 runs for Sigma Paints. Asif 3-32, Hanif 2-29, Hafiz Ismail 1-20 and Khalil 1-38 were among the wickets for Al
