JEDDAH: Association of Tennis Clubs in Jeddah (ASTEC), added another feather to their cap and savored the success of the 1st Top Cup Team Tennis Challenge 2011, with a much-attended awarding night at the Elite Hall here in Jeddah over the weekend, to honor the winners with trophies, giveaway prizes, and a dinner. Al-Kanaah Trading Group, distributors of Top Cup (France) products, the main sponsor of the tournament, represented by its CEO, Sheikh Hazem A. Saklou and his brother Dr. Tamer Saklou, led all guests in the celebration, including Vice Consul Mary Jennifer Dingal from the Philippine Consulate Generals Office in Jeddah, who made an inspirational talk. Crowned Champions in the men's division were Ruben Dunque, Roy Panes, Rene Nicodemus, Rey Gutlay, Edgardo Nique, Roger Dolores, Carlos Herrero, Ronald Macapagal, Rey Polintan, Ranell Acasio and Jun Inotantes of team Shelter in the Category C. In the Category B2, team Shelter's Omar Magno, Joel Magno, Andro Magno, Marlon Ordonio, Jun Inotants, Crizaldy Gan, Edwin Agullana, Federico Santos, Melvin Rama, Rey Polintan and Jojo Lontac were the honorees. While team NCB's (National Commercial Bank) Souhail Hafez, Ricky Mediavillo, Eric Diaz, Gil Tingabngab, Loi Escabusa, Danny Canoy, Lito Mosquera, Joel Magno, Melvin Rama, Joey Licyayo and Jomari Lumogdang took the podium for the Category MMX. Team Jollibee took the most titles as Edwin Potestad, Housam I-Basha, Ramon Monterde, Carmelo Nery, Duncan Russel, Ramzy Ali, Darrell Eltagonda, jack Walsh, Joel Quimpo, Zaldy Ramos and Edward Tugade plucked the Category LMX plum. Then Francis Idjao, Rey Diega, Dondon Alcantara, Jojo Aran, Ruben Macalindong, Doel De Castro, Bien Villeta, Eric Diaz, Maarouf Pantaran, Fred Masangkay and Danny Natangcop paraded to pick up their Category B1/B championship trophies. For the Category HMX, Francis Idjao, Randy Martin, Jun Miguel, Mike MJ Melendrez, Eric Diaz and Neil Pulan were the top finishers. In the Ladies Division, team Smash Magic with Jhoy Sarabia, Levi Apacionado, Nympha Sakay, CJ Borbe, Lorna Lladones, Barbara Padlan, Donna Cuevas and Hezyl Lozada took top honors with sister team Top Spin Magic composed of Carmina Miles, Rhoda A, Bangit, Joy Siongco, Nympha Sakay, Jhoy Sarabia, Levi Apacionado, Hezyl Lozada and CJ Borbe also taking the highest awards. Special awards were also given to the best doubles pair in each category. Recipients for the men's division were Darrell Eltagonde/Jonathan Contreras of Jollibee-1 for Category C, Edwin Potestad/Ramon Monterde of Jollibee-2 tied with Efren Bulatao/Leo Lutero of Pepsi-SCTC for the Category B2. Faiz Amil/Yasser Abie Muzammil of JRTC-5 took the honors for category LMX while in the category MMX, Eric Diaz/Souhail Hafez of team NCB were adjudged best. So too were Jun Miguel/Neil Pulan of Jollibee-4 in the B1/B category and Jeck Olaguer/Jojo Valencia of Lacoste-JBTP for the HMX class. The Ladies division also had Weng Castro/Lanie Mislang of JIS-STR in the B2 Category and Joy Siongco/Jhoy Sarabia of Top Spin Magic in the HMX.
