MADINA: Guards of the Prophet's Mosque in Madina arrested a man in his 40s Friday evening after he used his sword to stab two expatriates, officials said. The man, who was found to have a psychiatric disorder, said he hated the people he stabbed, according to officials. Security sources and a source at the Presidency of the Prophet's Mosque told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the man hid the sword by tying it with a belt around his waist and wearing a woolen Bisht, a cloak-like Arabian men's garment, over it. The suspect did not attract the guards' attention until he started wielding the sword at several visitors. Guards of Gate No. 37 in the Prophet's Mosque overpowered the man and handed him over to the police who took him for a medical check, which revealed the psychiatric disorder, said Maj. Gen. Awadh Al-Sarhani, director of Madina Police. This incident is the second of its kind in recent times; several months ago security men arrested a man in his 30s who possessed a dagger after his strange movements led to his arrest. That man, who came from Riyadh, had psychological problems and could not talk because he had not been taking medicine to treat his condition. His family identified him after his picture was published in Okaz/Saudi Gazette and Madina Police said the man in the photo had been arrested in the incident.
