Largest Emax Big Box in the Kingdom opens
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 06 - 2008

Emax, the electronic chain, leapfrogged into the big league with the launch of Kingdom's largest electronic store “Emax Big Box” at Sitteen street - Jeddah. Emax Big Box is an addition to Al-Bandar Trading's City Plaza & Centrepoint chain of stores in the Kingdom.
Emax Big Box on Sitteen Street, Jeddah, comes after its successful launch of the largest electronics store of the Middle East in the UAE. Emax has also set its firm footprints in Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.
Speaking on the group's plans for Emax, Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Al-Bandar Trading, said: “City Plaza has been at the forefront of creating some of the most unique retailing concepts in the region. The Big Box concept aims to revolutionize technology retailing with its innovative business model that combines the best brands, overwhelming product diversity, a range of never-before-customer-friendly services offering astonishing value through large format stores across the region. We have set the trend with this concept in UAE and continue to improve.”
“Any retailer who wants to make his mark in the Middle East cannot ignore Saudi Arabia. Emax plans to invest SR500 million in the coming three years,” he added.
Emax Big Box, Sitteen Street Jeddah displays over 300 brands and more than 100,000 electronic, digital and electrical products. The 100-strong staff at the Emax Big Box store have undergone rigorous product and service training and are well-equipped to help the customer make a choice.
“A lot of effort has gone into the shaping up of our first Big Box in Saudi Arabia. We believe that the changing demands of the region have led to the need for such a retailing concept, which is prevalent in other countries. We plan to launch more Big Box stores not only across the Kingdom but all across the region. The mid-term roll out will include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Al- Khobar,” Bhatnagar further said. The Emax Big Box will raise the bar for electronics retailing and the customer expectations for range and quality of service.
Emax also has plans to open 20 stores in the next 3 years across the Kingdom.
Santosh Pai, COO Western Region, said: “After the success of City Plaza & Centrepoint, we now introduce Emax Big Box in the Kingdom. The Emax Big Box concept ensures that the customer has a single destination to everything related to infotainment, range and services. We believe that apart from its huge size, the Emax Big Box will be a benchmark for its diverse product range, easy-to-shop floor layout and efficient customer service features. To sum up, Emax is all about range, service and price.”
“We have already enjoyed the patronage of customers in the Kingdom for our existing Emax outlet at the Dome and will be open for customers as Big Box in Ramadan this year. The Emax Big Box, Sitteen Street Jeddah marks a milestone for Emax in the Kingdom. We look forward to receiving overwhelming support from esteemed customers in the Kingdom as we have done in other parts of GCC,” he added.
The company has also signed distribution rights for leading international brands across GCC & is also establishing its multi-brand service centers across Kingdom. __
