Aleem lifts Desert Warriors in Jotun Cup opener

JEDDAH: Desert Warriors beat Butt Sports by 26 runs, ALJ handed Al-Khulais-XI 86-runs thrashing, Sigma Paints scored a five-wicket win over ACC, Reel & Rom beat Saliheen by eight wickets in the first week matches of Division-II Jotun Paints Cup, sponsored by Jotun and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA).
In the first match Desert Warriors batting first scored 240-4 in 18 overs against Butt Sports. Syed Aleem hit 114 runs off 49 balls with the help of 20 fours and two huge sixes. Abdul Quddus contributed 42 runs, Razi remained not out on 39 and Mirza contributed 16 runs. Sameer bagged 2-18, Zeeshan Butt 1-26 and Javed Butt 1-22.
Butt Sports in reply could score only 214-4 in 18 over. Sameer made 63, Junaid Butt remained unbeaten on 60, Tariq 24, Omar 19 and Mani 18 not out. Alam picked up 2-33, Abdul Quddus 1-29 and Ahmed 1-19.
In the second match ALJ, batting first, scored 186-8 against Al-Khulais-XI. Nana scored 31 not out, Adil 29, Tanveer 23, Madhu 19, Shiraz 18, Dildar 15 and Hamza 14. Khalil bagged 3-15, while Asif, Munir, Ismail and Aziz claimed one wicket each.
Al-Khulais-XI in reply was bundled out for 100. Aziz scored 26 and Ismail 20. Tanveer claimed 4-12, Adil 2-2, while Mudhi, Nana and Dildar picked up a wicket each for ALJ.
The third match saw ACC bat first and making 176-4 against Sigma Paints. Abid made 73 runs, Tabrez 26 and Syed Badaruddin 23. Tabassum and Zaheer bagged one wicket each. Sigma Paints crossed the target 179-5 with Tabassum hitting 51, Asim 35, Arbab Abbassi 26 and Saleem 24. Shadab bagged 2-18, Ayub 2-20 and Raheem 1-14.
In the last match Saliheen batting first made 145 all out in 17.5 overs against Reel & Rom. Abdul Waheed made 48, Amer 26, Amjad 22 and Yaqoob 16. Javed and Yaqoob claimed three wickets each, while Franky David bagged two wickets and Qurram one wicket. Reel & Rom in reply scored 146-2 in 13.5 overs to win the match by eight wickets. Wajid remained not out on 62, Zubair scored 39 and Imran made 23 runs. Abdul Waheed claimed 1-19 and Amer 1
