Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 04 - 2012

DAMMAM — Two students of the Bangladesh International School, Dammam (BISD) have garnered several awards for their exceptional performance in the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) held in June 2011.
Fahim Abdullah, son of Engr. Abdullah Al Baki and Halima Kowsar, received three awards: Top in the World in Additional Mathematics and Mathematics (without coursework) and Top in Dammam in Physics in the IGCSE (O Level) examination.
IGSCE, or International General Certificate of Secondary Education, is "the world's most popular international qualification for 14- to 16-year-olds. It develops successful students, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education, including progression to A and AS Level study, and equips them with skills for immediate employment. Cambridge IGCSE is recognized by universities and employers worldwide," according to their website.
Meanwhile, Maleeha Chowdhury, daughter of Mainuddin Ahmed Chowdhury and Asma Begum, has been named Best Across Four Cambridge A levels, Top in Saudi Arabia in Chemistry. Chowdhury is currently a student of Medicine at Batterjee Medical College in Jeddah.
The students credit their parents and teachers for their achievements.
BISD Principal Col. (retired) Md. Saleh Uddin Khan expressed joy over the success of the students, saying he was proud of the students.
Mohmmed Wahiduzzam, Chairman of the Board of Directors, thanked all the faculty members, especially the concerned subject teachers for their efforts. He cited Abul Kalam Azad (additional mathematics), Rajjool Monsoom (physics), MMM. Nawfal (chemistry) and Motaher Hossain Chowdhury (mathematics) for their great support to the students.
