The public freedom & democracy
Published in Alriyadh on 06 - 08 - 2012

In regard to the T.V. meeting with the interviewer Abdulla Al-Mudaifer through Rotana Khalijia; If I have kept receiving questions which are no more than an exchange of consistent view points from him for a complete hour, there wouldn't have been any media importance for that meeting. When the questions of the interviewer in the various fields of media, economy, politics or social life represent exchangeable consistent view points; they become a traditional discussion from which we got bored long time ago as it lacks the objective facts that are not provided by the one who answers and become sillier through the presentation of the asker. Objectivity has not been present in that meeting.
It is not a condition that the questions should be a personal opinion. However, it is better if to provide a chance for approving or correcting some of what is being said or promoted.
Let's discuss the talk about freedom and democracy for example, are they refused in the social life? They are not, of course. Is this social life, in regard to dealing, a real citizenship, development & correction of negative aspects? It is not, of course, as the variation in concepts levels is clear, regardless of the quality of educational qualification.
In our state, during tens of past years or even since King Abdul Aziz drove us from the reality of bedouinism and limited villages towards the present time; no citizens of viewpoints about democracy or freedom have been kidnapped. However, comparing ourselves with some Arab countries clarifies where we are heading to, the nature of our reality & the condition of the countries that practiced a lot of imprisonment procedures and conflicts that led to murders. We do know that these countries were the ones that called for freedom and democracy seventy years ago but how have their ends become now? Meanwhile, we are heading, indeed, towards freedom and democracy but under the care of a developed social awareness that benefits from the positive aspects of reaching such targets.
Let's put the Arab World aside and have a look at the countries which are superior in economy, science, competent civilization distinction. We shall not find that freedom and democracy in these countries have been used or utilized for starting the conflicts or overthrowing the governments through bloody passageways. These things never happened there. What happens there is that the legal references are the ones which decide the necessity of change. If there have been some media excesses against some developing countries; there is no one in their local environment who dares to falsifies the facts. If we have a careful look at the countries which could achieve the amazing advancement in a short time such as China & India; we shall find that they protected themselves from the bloody disputes that occurred in many Arab countries. In the next meeting; there shall be what is related to journalism and Al-Riyadh Newspaper.
