Myanmar & exterminating its Muslims!!
Al-Riyadh's Editorial
Published in Alriyadh on 03 - 08 - 2012

It is painful & regrettable that the world is, in general, and Muslims, in particular, are keeping silent in regard to the genocide applied on the Muslims in Burma (Myanmar) now, where the only voice heard is the voice of Human Rights Watch which is condemning such massacres. Meanwhile, the external world, especially Europe & the United States, is keeping silent after stopping the sanctions, putting into considerations this country's wealth that can be utilized through investment contracts in gas & oil sectors and promise at the same time a rewarding future. This means that the benefits defeated the humanitarian attitudes as such behavior has been a strategy for the major powers that always seek to achieve their interests, regardless of the results.
However, if this is the behavior of the West; what did the Muslims do in this regard? Have they protested in the cities for delivering their voice to the world? Have they asked for an urgent meeting for the Islamic organizations for raising the case to the United Nations and the other organizations?
What would have happened if European or Chinese citizens have been subjected to such massacres? We do not find some party or authority to support the Muslims that have been subjected to killing in other countries, not because of the religious side only but due to the humanitarian one, as well.
Burma's military government has been known through its crimes and massacres earlier. This government is targeting its 15% Muslims now, which is not a small minority. Even if Burma's Muslims were less than this percentage; it is neither allowed nor acceptable to classify races in such a way and attributing a certain race, whose citizens have been living in their lands since hundreds of years, to other nations. No law permits considering such people convicted due to their race or religion and exterminating them accordingly!
Myanmar committed such massacre due to its general feeling that Muslims are incapable of performing any role that protects their brothers. Such estimation is derived from many previous past and even present situations where no countries nearby Myanmar such as Indonesia or Malaysia moved towards the Muslim World in spite of their full knowledge about the various links with the Muslims minority there. Failure is not attributed to them only as we have not heard any influencing voice from the billion Muslims who are stretched in all continents, especially Asia & Africa. This failure gives us a certainty that they represent a useless numerical world and that coordination between these hundreds of millions is completely missing. Otherwise, if they have moved and shook the world through the diplomatic or deterring methods; Power balance with the various countries and nations could have been changed. Muslims in general have been attributed to terrorism after 11th of September events in spite of that those committed that event were just few individuals whose brains have been washed by al-Qaeda. This does not mean that all Muslims are in the same line and direction. Otherwise; they could have been a universal earthquake, due to their number and geographic expansion, if all of them have been members of Al-Qaeda!
Some Arab & Muslim practiced some pressure on some Christian minorities earlier & we have seen how Christians in all parts of the world moved to the extent that the Vatican kept defending their rights in all international bodies and organizations, which is a natural right. However, the problem of the Muslim World is its big retardation and the lack of real links that can make it a major power. Such links should not be for defending its other Muslim brothers only but for addressing all situations as well. The said situations should include the horrible media machine that classified them as being in a distant place a way from the human civilization or in a case of hostility with it. Furthermore, this media machine scared others from them as enemies and terrorists. In spite of the existence of embassies and advertising & media devices that can be superior to similar ones; they have been kept limited within their countries imprisonment only.
The reality that Muslims of Myanmar are living should be a public Islamic concern. Otherwise, they shall constitute a mere image for other acts that may be practiced against other Muslims. In all cases, the responsibility is not restricted to a (certain) state or an organization due to that it is related to the whole billion of Muslims in all parts of the world.
