The Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja, said that in completion of restructuring of information sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and after the issuance of the royal approval for the establishment of the Commissions of Radio and Television, and Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as two independent commissions with legal personality, a royal approval of Cabinet's decision has been issued for the establishment of General Commission for Audio-Visual Information to be linked administratively with the Minister of Culture and Information and it enjoys an independent legal status. He pointed out that the General Commission for Audio-Visual Information aims to regulate audio-visual information transmission, its development and control of its contents in accordance with media policy of the Kingdom; to promote social, religious and cultural values in the Kingdom; to ensure to provide the public with a variety of visual, audio entertainment, cultural, and social materials, and to formulate flexible and transparent licensing of media broadcast to accommodate business trends and technology for the development of this sector in the Kingdom. Dr. Khoja explained that this step is considered as a major achievement to be added to the great achievements that we are witnessing in the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in all fields, comprising visual and audio information sector including radio, television and all traditional and new communication media.
