Astronomical researcher: Ramadan starts on Monday
Published in Alriyadh on 24 - 07 - 2011

The astronomical researcher Dr. Khalid Bin Saleh Al Za'ag, member of the International Arab Union for Space and Astronomy, expected that Shaaban will complete 30 days and that Monday the first of August will be the first of Ramadan blessed month for the current year 1432 H. Dr. Al Za'ag clarified that the moon met with sun in the end of the month of Rajab, and with the opposing path of its movement, they will meet again after the sunset of Saturday 29/8/1432 H at 9:40, and when they meet they will be on one sky longitude. He also said that the in dawn of Juma 28th of shaaban the moon will rise with Fajer prayer with a think shape and in the dawn of Saturday the 29th of Shaaban the moon will rise before the sunrise by nearly half an hour and will drown in its yellow rays. While in the evening of Saturday the 29th of Shaaban the moon will set before the sun and will not gather with the sun, and so the horizon will be out of the moon at all and thus Shaaban will complete 39 days, and in the evening of Sunday the 30th of Shaaban the crescent will remain around 25 minutes to the west of the sunset with a 1.18% lighting on its surface, and its shape will deviate with a slight perpendicularity, its horns will be nearly western and will be far from the earth by 368695.0 KM. he also continued with saying that according to the astronomical givens in such things, the possibility of watching it in Sunday the 30th of Shaaban will be very hard because of the low lighting and its short presence as well as the need of telescopes in order to watch it, and it is very hard to see except from South Africa and South America countries because the new month crescent is not east to be seen except when the center of the moon get far from the center of the sun after they meet in the coupling moment by an enough distance with the appearance of light rays (crescent) in the moon.
