The weight of the Soviet Union in the age of bipolarity was measured by its ability to stand for the West and its evenness in any conflict in the world. The impetus of the left party that reached the European castles in France, Italy and Spain caused capitalists to fear that the conflict develop into the Atlantic Alliance. Instead, what happened later proved that soviets were unable to support the internal load that was lead by old retired people that did not the development activeness for the economic and military establishments. The concern was to get military equipped at the expense of the overall development to the extinct that the income of an astronomer, nuclear scientist or any scientific sector is not equivalent to that of a worker in an American or European company. And it was ironic that the best gift in the form bribery was jeans, which was prohibited to soviets by the Western imperialism. The soviets played a major role during the Cold War in our Arab region starting with the tripartite aggression on Egypt and their win in 1973 as well as their political positions against the western bias with Israel and the objection rights they made against the security council (VITO). But none of the historical evidences remain after the great country became extinct except for some important works at that time such as the effective contribution in building the high dam that U.S rejected financing it for political, and not economic, reasons or some other ideological investments. Meanwhile, and with the current progressive events in our Arab region, we find Turkey's weight more than Russia's although that Russia tried to engage by suggesting plans for Libya and conciliations for Syrian and Yemeni situations. But the issue is not about negotiable aspects only but also about the country's political and economic weight and their influence on the other side. U.S and its allies move out from their economic exchange influential power and their proximity with European borders, especially for what happens in the Arab countries on the Mediterranean Sea, which are considered geographical extension of the European continent. Russia on the other hand is cautious in confronting the West, and we saw how it threatens to veto in some situations and holds back in the last moments. There is nothing left for Russia except for weapons deals, but it doesn't deal as the Soviet Union used to do which provided a lot of countries with military equipments for easy long-term contracts or exchanging it with agricultural or industrial products and even any traded commodity. The present is different as the Arab revolutions indicated their needs to be freedom, justice and jobs as the political concern is placed on the internal situation. And to satisfy those needs Westerns rushed to provide some help and facilitating loans from International Banks while Russia doesn't have what it gives it the priority, and the political voice remains a part of general relations without a mentioned influence.
