It not wrong to search for the advantages of what is right. And it is not right to continue more than one mistake under the claim of avoiding the chaos of division and conflict.
However, we should take a look at the conditions of the Arab World throughout the past sixty years at least to find out which prevailed more: comprehensive right or comprehensive wrong.
The truth is that every beginning claimed to be a case of correction for the existing wrong. Perhaps all of us represented what seemed to be a total support for such a claim. We even found it as an outlet from the backwardness to, not only, the social justice, but also to the reality of the progress of civilization.
So, what happened? And what was achieved?
It is not wrong to change the existing fault that lead to a huge gap between the majority of the poor and unemployed and the minority of the wealthy and luxurious in the community. What is wrong is the absence of investigation of what was said in the beginning and what was achieved in the end.
This difficult and stressful gap would not appear in the Arab communities unless there was a neglected, and even idled, hope of progress where streets are preached with rhetorical and glamorous expressions more than with what is practical and creative.
It is not wrong to assume the existence of a lot of who realized this truth, and realized that any solutions to the negativities of the Arab reality should be brought to existence, and should match the reality of its abilities and the influences of its concepts. But is the Arab world void of the operations of reflecting the influences of concepts on what is publicly prevailing?
This is possible if we reviewed the past and found that there were abilities and influential traces on the public opinion, or some minorities or leadership abilities; where the results in most of the Arab communities were merely mobilizing what prevails by means of a similar alternative, or – and this is more dangerous and goes with the last consideration – mobilizing conflicts and causing them to continue and maintaining the Arab World paralyzed and incapable of assuring the independency of opinion and the communality of the mutual demand.
Contemplate with me how Lebanon has turned to an elegant geographical warehouse that contains figures of multi belongings conflicts... how Iraq has turned to an academy of killing, wars, and conflicts that demonstrated the truculence of sectarianism and discrimination.
During a dialogue between an Arab and an Iraqi Kurd two days ago on Alarabiya TV, the Kurd inquired "if the Kurds have entered the Arab history with immortal names like Saladin Al Ayoubi and such other leaders and thinkers, why they don't have a country like the other Arab groups?" The Arab replied:"the west doesn't want this, and especially America, as the spread of Kurds in four countries means the continuation of spreading stress and conflicts in these countries ..."
How did Iran exist in Lebanon, and now in Bahrain? Do not say that this is solely Iranian; this is also met with western blessings that achieve the advantage of two conflicts: an inter-Arab conflict, and an Arabic Iranian one.
Meanwhile, Iran has one advantage; they will realize that Israel was not found only for Jewish, but also to impose an Arabic geographical division that made us occupied with an Arabic-Israeli conflict instead of being busy with a civilized and economic development.
Europe was able to sort out the social divisions between the Protestants and the Catholics, and constitutional modernization in place of the domination of the church, and also did America of course before about one hundred years. However, the Arab World is predominated with multi-motives conflicts on the local level such as the conflict between the Sunni and Shiites on the religious level, and the sectarian distribution of the different brackets of the populations. What is worse than all of this is the huge gap in most of the Arab communities between those who represent the elite and those who sink in the social inferiority poor and unemployed.
