Foreigners possessed 200 thousand commercial shops, and 54 thousand groceries in Saudi Arabia

Yousef Al Dosary, The Chairman of The National Commercial Committee emphasized that the business size of the small and medium size establishments in the kingdom is assessed with about 140 billion riyals comparing with 20 billion riyals for the big companies in the market size in the local commercial system which reach to 160 billion riyals.
He said: " the figures proof the existence of great malfunction, which led to idleness which is differ than any other idleness in the world".
He added also to "Al Riyadh" that the number of the retail shops is 200 thousand shops, in addition to existence of 54 small groceries for selling the food stuff, the foreigners are possessing 80% of it, referring that the activation of the decree of localization of the small groceries will only provide 50 thousand positions for locals, instead of other commercial shops which shall provide more positions.
Al Dosary considered that we should search for the missed part, because the current situation emphasize that the localization is missed and idleness is exist. Also Al Dosary accentuated on the coordination with the private sector to localize these shops, inviting The Ministry of commerce to fight the concealment by legislating the rules and regulations to localize and maintain the professions, and to work strictly on its save, and explained that the most important obstacles that face the localization of the commercial shops is the working time, the low rate of wages, inexistence of perfect training and the specifications and requirements of the professions. He also confirmed the desire of the Saudis to work with regulated and limited working hours but not random one. Al Dosary also explained that the unfair competition had negatively reflected on the mental image about the Saudi youths who can't work from eight in the morning or earlier until after mid night.
Al Dosary suggested to unify the working hours for all as it is applied in all countries in the world, to be for one shift in the morning until six after noon, and the time should be distributed according to the needs or request of the companies and establishments, and to determine a suitable minimum rate of salaries for each profession, and to be studied carefully so as to comply with its responsibilities and requirements, and to not neglect in implementing a mechanism that save this system which will be reflected on the attraction of the youths to the positions and the attempt to improve the performance in size and type, and gaining the loyalty to the employer.
Al Dosary added that the need is critical to train the youths on the professions practically and applicably by establishing a specialized companies in the professional vocational training for each profession, asking to imposing a strict restrictions on the specifications of the professions in certifications to encourage the youths to compete in their performance and they will have the advantage due to their knowledge about the community culture and their excellence with different work's requirements, and availability of employment safety by the continuity of these youths and inexistence of their rapid transferring, and their insistence on appearing and achieving of quality and accuracy in work.
