King Salman's historical visit to Jordan for the Arab summit comes at time when the Arab world is passing through difficult times, amidst a world full of uncertainties. This visit, which follows an earlier one by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last November, is a clear indication of the strong ties between the Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The two countries have maintained cordial relations that are a model to be followed by other countries. These relations are based on the strong foundation of respect and a policy of non-interference in each other's internal affairs. These relations go back to several decades and throughout the period they have remained strong. The two countries' leaderships may have some differences on regional issues, but they have a common stand on important Arab issues such as the Palestinian cause, the Iranian threat, and the terrorist menace. Ever since King Salman assumed the throne, Saudi Arabia has faced a series of challenges, fended off conspiracies, and maintained its track record of playing a key Arab and Islamic role. Jordan appreciates this role and is ever ready to cooperate with the Kingdom in ensuring it succeeds playing a lead role in the Arab and Muslim worlds, and be a unifying force. The Kingdom not only carries a heavy burden due to the influx of Syrian refugees, but is in the forefront against terrorist threats from Iraq and Syria. This is undoubtedly a big task. The warm reception accorded to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques reflects the respect which Jordan and its people have for Saudi Arabia.
