Issa Hayatou has been voted out as president of the African soccer confederation after 29 years, losing to Ahmad of Madagascar. Hayatou, previously the most senior FIFA vice president, will lose his FIFA position and his place on the body's ruling council. Ahmad, the head of the Madagascan federation, won Thursday's vote by African soccer's member countries and will take over on an initial four-year term. Hayatou's departure is a major shakeup for African soccer, which he has led since 1988. The 70-year-old Cameroonian had only been challenged twice before in a re-election campaign and won both of those in landslides.
