Apple TV: 7 nifty tricks to enjoy the entertainment system
Published in Alriyadh on 20 - 02 - 2017

One tiny box is all it takes to have a completely different viewing experience. At least that is the idea for the Apple TV. If you've already got one, chances are you are already enjoying some of the many features that the Apple TV offers.
If you haven't yet found the time to fully tinker with your device, below are a few tips that can help you make the most of your buy.
Just like a regular television, you can actually go to settings to make your device go into sleep mode after a certain amount of time. However, if your movie marathon has you exhausted and you can no longer resist the urge for sleep, you can give your device the same rest by simply pressing the Home button for a long time then select Sleep. When you're ready to use the device again, a single press of any button will reactivate the Apple TV.
You can personalize the Apple TV even more by customizing your screensaver. To do so, you simply enter the Settings, proceed to General and select Screensaver. There you can choose your personalized wallpaper and enjoy seeing your own photos in high resolution.
Just like with your iPhone, the Apple TV comes with the capability to switch between your favorite apps with ease. One can simply press the Home button twice and then you will have access to your recently opened apps and scroll through them by swiping left and right. To close a function, you simply swipe up the selected app.
Perhaps one of the best and most advantageous things to ever happen to television can be found on the Apple TV. If you did not understand what the character in your favourite show just said, you can simply hold the Siri button and say (if you haven't already), "What did she just say?" and the Apple TV will automatically playback to the closest point of the video before the last person spoke and subtitles will be temporarily enabled. Well, isn't that neat?
To make life with your Apple TV much easier, adding a keyboard or even Bluetooth headphones to the mix may do the trick. By simply going into Settings then on to Remotes and Devices and Bluetooth, you can pair your chosen accessory to the Apple TV.
If you haven't already heard, you can now use your iPhone and Apple Watch to control your Apple TV with ease. By simply downloading the Apple TV Remote app to your iPhone or Apple watch, you can easily connect them to your Apple TV.
With so many great shows out there, you may find yourself utterly confused and unsure about which shows to watch first. As always, Siri can help you with that. You can simply press the Siri button and ask her what you should watch or what the trending shows are and she will show you a list of recommended shows.
