A man tried to set himself ablaze near the Holy Kaaba in Makkah Monday before security forces stopped him in the act. A spokesman for the Holy Mosque Special Security Force said the man, a Saudi in his 40s, was arrested as soon as he poured gasoline on himself and attempted suicide. By the man's actions, it seemed he was mentally deranged, the spokesman said, adding that legal action will be taken against him.
