Statement on Saudi-Turkish ties falsely attributed to former envoy to Turkey

The Saudi Embassy in Turkey described statements attributed to former Saudi ambassador to Turkey as false.
The statements were related to Saudi-Turkish relations in the wake of the Syrian crisis.
The embassy said on Twitter that the statements attributed to Ambassador Adel Merdad by BBC were fabricated and that Merdad had left Turkey three weeks ago after the end of his term.
Meanwhile, a source at the embassy in Ankara told Al-Riyadh Arabic paper, sister publication of Riyadh Daily, that Charge d'Affaires Abdullah Al-Ghami is the acting ambassador now and that Merdad has not made any statement whether to the BBC or any other media outlets in recent months.
