GCC Information Ministers hold 3rd Extraordinary Meeting in Riyadh

The Information Ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States held in the Meetings Hall at King Salman Airbase Airport here yesterday their 3rd extraordinary meeting under the chairmanship of Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi in the presence of the GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdul-Latif Al-Zayani.
Then, Adel bin Zaid Al-Toraifi, Minister of Culture and Information, who is also chairman of the meeting, welcomed the GCC ministers of culture in Riyadh.
"I am pleased to convey to you greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his wishes every success for your meeting. He is confidence that you exert great efforts in supporting political options and directives of your countries to serve the Arab Gulf and sharing visions in serving Arab and Islamic issues. He looks forward to more joint quality efforts in this way," Al-Toraifi said.
"On behalf of you, I am honored to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his approval to hold this emergency meeting for consultation and coordination towards unification of media efforts to uncover what Houthi militias and forces loyal to ousted president Saleh regarding disruption of the relief and humanitarian operations to the Yemeni people and process of negotiations with the legitimate government as well as to highlight on all repeated attacks and violations of the Houthi militias and forces loyal to the ousted president Saleh against the territories of the Kingdom and launching ballistic missiles and projectiles randomly which led to loss of lives and properties. These criminal attacks, in fact, represent an attack against all GCC countries," he added.
"We meet yesterday and our states face many challenges at all levels and are faced by media campaigns which require us to address them with united action based on long-term strategies and urgent media plans with all traditional and new media outlets. Our responsibility, as ministers of information, in these difficult and critical periods is growing for advancement of our states' media. We have to address these directed media campaigns against the GCC states. It is an important opportunity for the GCC information ministries and commissions to conduct an accurate review of the strategies of the GCC join media action in crisis in light of acceleration of events around us. We have to exchange ideas and visions in order to develop and implement unified joint media campaign and pursuit to enhance efforts to be consistent with the directives and aspirations of the GCC leaders in developing performance of the GCC media in order to achieve the desired goals," Al-Toraifi said.
"Since establishment of the GCC Secretariat General in 1981, the GCC institutions seek to achieve the supreme goals set up by the GCC leader for the service of the GCC citizens. They believe that the GCC is one entity with many bonds, including religion, blood and common destiny," he added.
"We hope to proceed to new horizons in coordination and consolidation of joint media message to disclose violations of the Houthi militias and forces loyal to ousted Saleh regarding impeding humanitarian relief to the Yemeni people in the besieged regions in Yemen as well as impeding negotiations process and repeated attacks on the southern borders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through launching ballistic missiles and projectiles randomly into the territories of the Kingdom. To achieve this goal, some proposals for implementation of this campaign are listed within agenda of our meeting," Al-Toraifi added.
Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-Toraifi concluded that "we are part of this world. We live its problems and challenges. We all share in this responsibility and will contribute effectively to provide solutions for many world's urgent issues. I emphasize that our action is consistent with international trends and humanitarian visions as well as with international obligations to protect the states and peoples. I confirm our GCC permanent strategic choice in achieving the vision of the GCC leaders and peoples to support the Arab issues and our fair issues in the world."
