Saudi Bureau of Aviation Investigations announced today the results of the preliminary investigation of the crash accident of the registered plane in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Blakpoh Airport in Britain while landing at the end last July, which led to the burning and death of its three passengers and pilot.
The Director General of the Bureau of Aviation Investigations, Captain Ibrahim bin Salman Al-Kishi explained that the results of the investigation into the accident conducted by the British Aviation Accident Investigation Bureau, with the participation of authorized representative of the Saudi aviation investigation Bureau, included according to the initial report of the investigation into the incident a number of points, the most prominent one is the plane's approaching at the beginning of the runway with the speed of 150 knots while the aircraft manufacturer said, according to available data from the aircraft operator that the appropriate speed for landing is 108 knots.
The report revealed that the contact with the aircraft wheels to the surface of the runway was 710 meters (yards) from the beginning of the runway keeping only 349 meters from the declared runway length which is 1059 meters, adding that the aircraft speed when touching the land of the runway was 134 knots, which requires, according to the manufacturer's estimate the plane 616 meters for stopping.
The report pointed to continuing running of the plane on the floor of the runway to the end of the runway and going out to bump into and pass a height that separates the airport from the car auction site adjacent to the airport and led to hitting a group of cars parked at the site and it caught fire.
Captain Al-Kishi confirmed the continuation of coordination and follow-up with the British aviation accident investigation Bureau until the issuance of the final report, which will include the causes and circumstances that led to the incident of the crash and issuing safety recommendations aimed at preventing the recurrence of such incidents.
The Saudi Aviation Investigation Bureau appointed an accredited representative for coordination and follow-up investigation with the British aviation accident investigation Bureau.
