Ayoon Wa Azan (I Condemn Myself As I Am One of Them)
Published in AL HAYAT on 01 - 06 - 2010

The whole of Israel has veered to extremism and to the right. There is no difference between right and left anymore. Everyone is an extremist, and Israel is exposing itself to the world. There are no peace doves among Israelis.
I heard the above from the Syrian President in a private meeting on Sunday. And then barely 24 hours later, the Israelis were proving him right as they committed a heinous crime against peace activists in international waters.
Israel has stripped its legitimacy with its own hands. It is an illegal settlement outpost in the first place, which was established on the lands of the Palestinians, after killing, destroying and dispossessing [the Palestinians], and after lying to the whole world under the guise of the Holocaust, while its government and army committed the same crimes against the Palestinians that the Nazis committed against the Jews.
After decades of lies, the world no longer believes Israel's claims about a country under siege and a moral army, when Israel is blockading the Palestinians to the point where the Gaza Strip has become an open-air Nazi concentration camp. Israel also threatens neighbouring countries and their peoples, and even Iran a thousand miles away. As for its army, it is devoid of morality and is nothing short of a neo-Nazi gang.
There is an international campaign underway, led by human rights organizations, peace groups and activists in Western campuses and churches, especially in the United States, to delegitimize Israel. But what all of those failed to do, Israel did on their behalf. This is because its crime against the peace flotilla will not go unnoticed, unlike the blood of Palestinian women and children. Instead, we are witnessing a European rebellion against Israel and its crime which goes beyond the dozens murdered and wounded, as it is tantamount to genocide, which is what the Israeli soldiers wanted to carry out.
After the interview with President Assad, I met with brother Khaled Mashaal, the head of the Hamas political bureau, and we spoke about the impossibility of peace with the criminal state of Israel. Dawn had barely come when we heard the news of the crime and started to follow it on television. I called brother Khaled Mashaal and found him to be still awake. He spoke about Israeli piracy against unarmed civilians, and thought that it is likely that the crime will have serious repercussions. The Turkish people are demonstrating, and all the peoples of Europe are attacking Israel.
After this telephone conversation, I went to meet Dr. Ramadan Shallah, the leader of the Islamic Jihad group, on an appointment previously scheduled. In turn, he condemned the terrible crime, and said that he would have been surprised if Israel had acted humanely, and allowed the vessels to cross into Gaza. After that, I watched coverage of the crime on the Israeli Second Channel, which I was watching for the first time, and Dr. Ramadan translated to us from Hebrew which he knows fluently.
Abdullah Dardari, the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, said that he was in a business meeting that was dominated by talk about the Israeli crime, which he saw as evidence of brutality and stupidity, and said that Israel must pay the price.
The Israeli crime took place in conjunction with my article in this column about a mean Likudnik campaign against Miss USA Rima Fakih, a Muslim of Lebanese origin, and against the Muslims student Jumana al-Bahri. I said that they are “both victims of Likudnik terror and the supporters of Israel, who defend a neo-Nazi terrorist state” and I also said that the advocates of Israel suffered a nervous breakdown, after their permanent moral breakdown, when Rima won the beauty pageant. I also referred to two despicable Likudnik extremists (a man and a woman), and I accused everyone like them to be a supporter of Israeli terrorism who practices black ‘Goebbelsian' propaganda. I also supported Hamas and Hezbollah against Israeli terrorism, and said that they are national liberation movements fighting against neo-Nazis who murder women and children. I then concluded by condemning the ‘enemies of humanity'; then the Israelis committed that same morning what confirmed my opinion about them.
I condemn the crime and everyone who was directly or indirectly involved. I condemn the advocates of Israel who encourage it into extremism. The blood of Palestinians and Israelis is on their hands in the absence of a peaceful solution.
I also condemn the U.S Congress in particular, as it supports Israel when it commits crime after crime, which also stains the Congress's hands with the blood of the victims.
But above all, I condemn the Arabs and Muslims, i.e. I condemn myself as I am one of them, because we have become complacent, and failed to liberate Jerusalem, and now rely on young men and women peace activists to work for our causes.
Israel has lost its legitimacy, and anyone who supports it is a war criminal just like its government, army, settlers and their myths.
