A fire official in Louisville, Ky., said a fire at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts prompted the evacuation of more than 100 people, UPI reported. Louisville Fire Department Maj. Bill Banta told the Louisville (Ky.) Courier-Journal that Saturday night"s fire at the center originated in an electrical room in the center"s garage and resulted in the evacuation of 108 cast, crew and audience members. Center communications director David Holland said the fire occurred while the improvisation show, Improvapalooza No. 10, was being performed at the center"s Mex Theater. Banta said sprinklers helped contain the fire, but the incident resulted in the center"s power going offline until an emergency generator was used. Banta told the Courier-Journal the fire is under investigation and praised the emergency plan to respond to the blaze. "Of course we don"t want something like this to happen, but if it does, we have a plan," Banta said. "And that plan has worked."
