Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin has urged Britain and the European Union to make faster progress in their talks on a future trade deal, dpa reported. "There needs to be movement in terms of getting into end-stage negotiations and we feel there's a lot of work to be done yet on a number of fronts," Martin said on Thursday in Dublin at a joint press conference with European Council President Charles Michel. The deal is crucial for Ireland, as the only EU country to share a land border with Britain. Michel for his part urged Britain to put its "cards on the table" to help find a way forward. The EU wanted a deal, he said, but not at any price. Brussels and London are racing to reach an agreement on their future trade relations after a Brexit transitional phase ends at the end of this year. The last round of talks concluded with no apparent breakthrough. Tensions between the two sides have been heightened by a bill going through the British parliament that overrides parts of the previous withdrawal agreement between London and Brussels.
