Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Energy, in the presence of Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water of the State of Kuwait Dr. Khaled Al-Fadil, launched the countdown to start resuming production operations in the joint Khafji operations.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman launched the countdown during his visit today to the headquarters of the joint Khafji operations.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman described the signing of an agreement annexed to the agreements of dividing the divided region and the submerged area bordering the divided region between the two countries, as concord and not just an agreement due to the two countries' common ties that surpass natural resources to human resources, indicating that the resumption of the production of the joint Al Khafji operations will be gradual and that by the end of 2020, it will reach about 325 thousand barrels per day.
The Minister of Energy stressed that the wise directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his concern that the file of the divided region and the submerged area be concluded in in concord to come out with a stable and sustainable future vision, indicating that this consensus would not have occurred without the attention and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was a key party in reaching the texts of the foundations points that were negotiated with the brothers in Kuwait and that without this framework and these foundations "we would not be able to reach this agreement, and therefore I am indebted to the position of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to enable me to continue on this matter, and I thank His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for his confidence in me to complete this file, and for his support and follow-up until we came out with this honorable result for all."
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman added that the implementation of projects in the Dorra gas field will be soon indicating that there are companies that have the ability to start these projects, indicating that the region is promising and contains large quantities of gas.
He stressed the strength of the Saudi-Kuwaiti relations, as it is based on the bonds of kinship, blood and common destiny, and it is the best model that can be complied with in the relations between countries.
For his part, the Kuwaiti Oil Minister said that Kuwait is committed to international decisions to reduce production, adding that the quantities of joint production between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait do not contradict the decisions of the "OPEC +" agreement regarding production cuts.
In turn, Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Al-Nasser affirmed that the agreement of the two countries paves the way for the resumption of oil production in the area divided between the two countries, indicating that the two sides will work to ensure the resumption of production at the earliest opportunity.
