MOH: 40% Improvement in Services of Cancer Care Facilities

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has increased the number of cancer care facilities from 9 facilities in 2017 to 17 in 2019, with 88.8% increase. MOH has also increased beds capacity of its cancer care hospitals from 389 beds 2017 to 546 beds 2019, an increase of 40.3% . Increasing manpower was a part of the improvements, as the number of workers has increased from 723 to 1043 in 2019, with 44.2% increase. This comes as part of MOH's endeavors to enhance cancer care facilities.
MOH said that these improvements in cancer care facilities have recorded 40% increase, including Chemotherapy centers, as they went from 10 centers to 17 in 2019, 89% increase, raising Chemotherapy sessions from 41483 to 42119.
Stem cell transplantation centers were part of the improvements, as they reached 5 centers, recording 400% increase.
Other related cancer care facilities including Centers for Children's Cancer have been established, and the availability of cancer medications has increased.
MOH has confirmed that different initiatives and programs will also be launched to improve cancer care services.
