Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host a preparatory conference, to lay ground for the UN 2019 Climate Summit, in Abu Dhabi, in June. The statement was made public, during Guterres' meeting with Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Omar bin Sultan Al-Oulama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, on the sidelines of the 49th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, currently taking place, at Davos, Switzerland. Preparatory meeting for the Climate Summit aims to set an agenda, including recommendations and draft resolutions to be presented to the United Nations Climate Summit, in September, which is expected to witness the highest international participation in terms of official representation of countries, the private sector and civil society organizations, since the Paris Agreement 2015.
