China and the US discussed Monday the latest developments in the Afghanistan as well as issues connected to bilateral relations. This came during a phone call held by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken, said Xinhua news agency. Both sides stressed the importance of constant and permanent communication on international and regional issues to face global challenged, especially the situation in Afghanistan. Wang said that China is ready to work with the United States for the stability of Afghanistan and a smooth transition of power, to prevent the outbreak of a new civil war or a humanitarian catastrophe. He called on the Afghani fractions and parties involved to establish an open and comprehensive political framework that suits the situation in Afghanistan, stressing the importance of the US role to guarantee the stability and peace of the country. He criticized the quick withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan, considering it an "irresponsible move that would have a negative impact on the situation in Afghanistan", Xinhua quoted Wang saying. China and the US are permanent members of the UNSC and importance members in the contemporary international system, both countries have to cooperate and coordinate to achieve international community aspiration. On his side, the US Secretary of State Blinken said it's so important for the United States and China to keep their communication on international and regional issues, stressing that peaceful coexistence is a common target for both sides, Xinhua quoted. Regarding the latest updates in Afghanistan, Blinken noted that the current situation is entering a critical stage, the Afghani people have to determine their future. Taliban should declare the complete separation from extremism, transfer smoothly into power, and establishment of an inclusive government, said Blinken, calling Taliban to ensure the safety of all who wish to leave the country. He explained that the developing situation in Afghanistan "shows again the importance of cooperation between China and US in terms of regional security. He expressed the hope that China will play a major role to ensure the stability of the situation in Afghanistan, praising in the meantime the Chinese participation in the Doha meeting on the Afghani issue. Regarding the disagreements between the US and China, Blinken assured "these disagreements can be solved gradually in a constructive way in the coming days". — KUNA
