DAMMAM — Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef offered condolences to the family of Mishaal Al-Huraiji, member of the Civil Defense firefighting team who was martyred while engaged in extinguishing a fire. The firefighter died on Friday after being hit by shrapnel that flew from one of the tanks engulfed in fire that swept through a factory in Dammam industrial city. Al-Huraiji's fatal end came when he was completing preparations for wedding ceremony after his father's return from Kuwait. While mourning the demise of Al-Huraiji, Minister Alkhorayef said in a statement on his Twitter account: "It is a duty and obligatory for all industrial firms to have total compliance with security and safety procedures and not showing any leniency in fulfilling the requirements, and we are working in the industrial and mineral system to ensure that these are strictly in force." The General Directorate of Civil Defense tweeted: "The General Directorate of Civil Defense mourns the death of soldier Mishaal Mutlaq Al-Huraiji, who was martyred while fighting a fire in one of factories in Dammam." The people of Hafr Al-Batin on Friday evening mourned the death of Al-Huraiji. A number of Civil Defense officials as well as military and civilian leaders along with a large gathering of people attended the funeral ceremony.
