Golfing greats donned specially designed footwear during the opening round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (Jan. 21) to raise awareness of World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Day, the tournament's official charity partner. World No, 3 Justin Thomas joined reigning Ryder Cup champions Ian Poulter and Tyrrell Hatton on the famous fairways of Abu Dhabi Golf Club with eye-catchingly designed shoes to highlight World NTD Day. NTDs are a group of 20 preventable infectious diseases that place a heavy burden on more than 1.7 billion people around the world and typically affect the most marginalised and hard-to-reach populations. The bespoke shoes were designed by renowned American designer Nomad and featured a range of designs in the colours of the charity and the slogan #EndTheNeglect. Fans have the opportunity to get their hands on these unique shoes worn and signed by Thomas, Poulter and Hatton by bidding at www.charitystars.com with all funds raised going directly to the charity. This year, tournament organizers are also supporting some of the key workers who have been working tirelessly to combat the impact of COVID-19 in Abu Dhabi with exclusive tickets to attend the 16th edition of the Rolex Series tournament, which runs from Jan. 21-24.
