Strict precautionary measures are being taken in surgical operation theaters of all Saudi hospitals to limit the spread of coronavirus, Al-Arabiya.net reported. On a tour of the surgical room of King Fahd Hospital in Al-Ahsa, Al-Arabiya reporter witnessed minute details of utmost degree of precautions being taken by the surgical team that were armed with protective tools. Dr. Muhammad Al-Saleem, an orthopedics consultant, said that the operation rooms must have a negative pressure in order to draw air into a ventilation system equipped with a special filter that prevents the spread of the coronavirus to nearby places. "Protective tools should be worn to perform the operation with the least risks, such as the highly-efficient n95 type masks, and the transparent face cover to protect from droplets that may fly from the breathing of the injured. The medical team wears a head and neck cover so that some viruses do not get stuck in the body," he said. Dr. Al-Saleem noted that all tools are sterilized after the completion of the surgical process, and the clothes are disposed of in a certain way to curb the spread of coronavirus. "Operations are highly difficult tasks due to the severity of the virus and its high concentration," he added. — SG
