BELGRADE — Alpha BK University on Tuesday awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of Science to Dr. Muhammad Bin Abdul Kerim Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League. The significant recognition was given to Al-Issa for his "exceptional contribution and commitment in the field of interpersonal tolerance and understanding among people and religions in the world." MP Dragomir J. Karić, one of the founders of Alpha BK University, the first private university in Southeastern Europe, reminded the audience that he and MP Milanka Karić are members of Parliamentary Friendship Groups with all Arab countries in the National Assembly of Serbia. "I am pleased to welcome our guest at a temple of science such as Alpha BK University. I would like to greet him on behalf of the founder and creator of the Alpha BK University Bogoljub Karić and all members of the Karić family. His visit is a holiday for us. Given that we have several honorary PhDs who are laureates and Nobel Prize winners, such as Peter Handke, I have the right to believe that next time we will welcome Muhammad Bin Abdul-Kerim Al-Issa in our country and at Alpha BK University as a Nobel Prize winner," emphasized Dragomir J. Karić. In the crowded hall of Alpha BK University, the MWL chief thanked him for the exceptional honor he was given. "I want to express the pleasure and delight for being here with you. I truly feel very privileged to have become an Alfa BK University family member by this act, and I am grateful for the trust I have been given. This honor will be an additional motivation and obligation on my shoulders to carry out the activities that I have carried out so far in the future with much more energy and enthusiasm. I am honored by the wise words I have heard here, as well as by the award of my doctorate at the university where highly influential intellectual figures work and act. It is a privilege for me that persons who have received honorary doctorates before me are considered to be persons of ideas, knowledge and skills at the world level," emphasized Al-Issa. He added that he was pleased that he had visited Serbia and had meetings with President Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojković, Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, and Patriarch Irinej. He pointed out that he encountered with the extremely rich culture of the Serbian people and the harmony that prevails among different religious communities . The message was also sent by Read-l-ulema of the Islamic Community of Serbia Sead Nasufović. "I was thinking about two things on my way here. The first is what a healthy family means and what benefits God gives it. One such benefit is definitely this university, which brings together and promotes good people and good values. The second message I want to send is that in Islamic philosophy, the property of life is equated with the property of knowledge. When people understand what the Muslim World League really means, they will be proud and happy to have witnessed this day and this moment. The ceremony was attended by numerous ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and professors at Alpha BK University.
