Guyana's ruling party won a presidential vote in the South American nation, the head of the electoral commission said on Thursday according to Reuters. The commission said final results showed the People's Progressive Party/Civic extended its almost two-decades in power with 49 percent of ballots compared with 41 percent for the opposition coalition, A Partnership for National Unity. It was the fifth straight election win for the PPP/C.
