The secretariat general of Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) has condemned the call of Priest Terry Jones in Florida for making September 11 every year as an international day for burning the Holy Quran, and said such a development will have an adverse impact on relations among nations of the world. The remarks came in a statement released by MWL's secretary general Dr Abdullah al-Turki. Dr al-Turki said burning copies of the Holy Quran constitutes a heinous aggression on the message of Islam and a flagrant aggression on Muslims of the world whose number amounts to 1.5 billion. Dr al-Turki said the statement of Priest Terry Jones in which he said 'Islam is from the Satan' is a wicked and extremist statement which causes hatred among nations of the world. Dr al-Turki noted that a number of parties and authorities in the world including the US administration, the European Union as well as a number of Arab and international churches have condemned the plans of the Terry Jones for burning the Holy Quran. He urged the Islamic organizations, centers and societies in the US to take the required measures for preventing Terry Jones from committing the crime of burning the Holy Quran.
