Under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, the Madinah-based Islamic University (IU) will organize the First International Conference on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Efforts in Serving Islamic Causes. The conference will be organized in collaboration with King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives "DARAH" during the month of Jumad Al Oula 1431 AH. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Mohammed Al Al-Oqla, the Rector of the IU said that the conference will highlight Saudi Arabia's considerable efforts at various levels in the service of Islam and Muslims in various parts of the world. "It will also focus on the Kingdom's efforts in the service of the Islamic Solidarity, the Rector noted. "These efforts of the Kingdom are progressing ahead and have culminated into establishment of Muslim World League (WML) and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) as well as led to the coordination of Arab and Islamic stances in support of Islamic just causes, accomplishment of reconciliation between Muslim factions and the elimination of the causes of the dispute between the Islamic countries," he said. The Rector said the second goal of the conference encompasses the subject of the Kingdom's efforts in the service of the Islamic causes including supporting and defending the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) and promoting cultural dialogue with other countries, defending the rights of Muslim minorities, ending the armed conflicts and stopping the bloodshed of Muslims, preserving the unity of the Islamic countries and preventing attempts toward partition, advocating and supporting Palestinian Cause and the role of Saudi scholars in defending Islamic issues and causes. The third axis of the conference deals with the Kingdom's efforts in support of Arab and Islamic NGOs and universities including the foundation and supporting of the Islamic jurisprudential academies, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), the International Islamic Relief Organization of Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) and activating the role of such bodies in serving Islamic causes. --MORE
