Nearly 200,000 homes and businesses in Michigan are without electricity on Monday, after strong winds knocked down tree limbs and power lines, while residents in parts of the Northwest braced for another winter storm. As crews worked to restore power to the area, flood warnings were posted throughout the Midwest as temperatures rose after a week of heavy snowfall. Forecasters said flooding was possible in parts of Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and northwest Ohio. Winter storm warnings were issued throughout the Northwest, which has been hit by storms in recent weeks. The National Weather Service said northeastern Washington and the Idaho panhandle could expect 3 to 7 inches of new snow in the valleys, and 6 to 10 inches in the mountains through Monday evening. In Michigan, winds knocked out power Sunday as temperatures dropped back to the freezing point. Detroit-based DTE Energy Company said about 135,000 customers were without power early on Monday, down from about 230,000 Sunday.
