French Defense Minister Herve Morin described relations binding his country with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as distinguished. In a press conference here today, he said that there are cooperation and understanding between the two countries in all fields. He noted that France considers Saudi Arabia as a great state in terms of its wisdom and responsibility and that the Kingdom can participate with France in the foreign policy to ensure peace and development in the region. The French defense minister indicated that during his visit to the Kingdom, he discussed ways of military cooperation existing between the two countries and their enhancement in various military fields. Replying to a question on the current situation in Iraq, he said, '' France's position is clear with regard to the military intervention in Iraq'', looking forward that Iraq gradually gets its real sovereignty. He stressed his country's keenness on the stability of Lebanon and understanding of all its strata without any foreign interference. Regarding the Iranian nuclear file, the French defense minister called on Iran to adhere to and respect international agreements signed on Nuclear Weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty and to be subjected to inspection relating to civilian nuclear programs.
