Nigeria is to train 220 Liberian soldiers, Nigerian Defence Minister Yayale Ahmed said in Abuja Thursday according to DPA. Yayale said during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between both countries that the Liberian officers would be trained in Nigeria's military schools. "This is part of the country's support for Liberia," he said. Yayale said the signing of the MOU was the expansion of the relationship between the two countries which dated to October 1960 when Nigeria won independence from British colonialists. "Peace in Nigeria will be enjoyed when there is peace in the West African region," Yayale said. He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their loyalty and dedication since they joined peace-keeping operations in Liberia.
