The United States has condemned Saturday's terrorist attack on the Egyptian resort town of Sharm-al- Sheikh, the White House said Saturday. In a statement released in the hours after the attacks, White House spokesman Scott McClellan called the multiple bombings "barbaric terrorist attacks" and said Americans "offer our prayers for the victims and their families and join the international community in deeply deploring this assault on the civilized world." U.S. President George W. Bush spoke with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday, offering his personal condolences and the support of the American people, McClellan said. "The United States stands firmly with the people of Egypt at this time of national mourning. The United States stands ready to assist the Government of Egypt in helping the victims and bringing the perpetrators of these acts to justice. Standing together with the rest of the civilized world, we will win the conflict against this global scourge," the statement said. --MORE 1031 Local Time 0731 GMT
