Brazilian soccer legend great Pelé passed away today at the age of 82, according to his family's announcement. Pelé was hospitalized for a colon tumor detected in September 2021. Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, the magical Brazilian soccer star was born on October 23, 1940, in the state of Minas Gerais in Southeastern Brazil, and became known as the "King of Football" after he led the Brazilian national team to crown the World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970. Pelé was chosen by FIFA to be one of the players of the twentieth century in the world, alongside with Argentine star Diego Maradona, who died in 2020 at the age of 60.
