Tens of thousands of refugee children are at risk of severe illness or even death from hypothermia due to exposure to frigid winter conditions in parts of Europe, dpa quoted the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) as saying Friday in New York. Areas most affected are Greece, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. In Greece and in the Balkans for example, there are more than 23,000 refugee children, including newborns and toddlers, primarily from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of them are housed in accommodations inadequate for the winter conditions.
