Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud opened here this evening, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz New International Airport. Upon arrival of the King at the venue, he was received by Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Madinah Region; and Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan, the Head of the General Commission of Civil Aviation. Following playing the National Anthem, Dr. Faisal Al-Suqair, the Deputy Head of the General Commission of Civil Aviation and other managers of the company, undertaking the airport project, have been honored by shaking hands with the King. Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques toured the utilities of the airport, which lies on a total 4,000,000 meters and considered as a civic feature of the the city, as it reflects traditions and the heritage of Madina natives, and works to guarantee raising of services' standards being accorded to passngers. The King listended to a briefing presented by the head of the commission, on the airports sections, including passngers counters, duty-free market, restaurants, in addition to departing gates etc. An oratory party was held, which began with a recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran. The capacity of the new airport is 8,000,000 passengers per annum, in its 1st phase, and will reach 18,000,000 passengers, on the 2nd phase, while the 3rd phase will witness doubling the capacity of the airport, to exceed 40,000,000 passengers, per annum. Following the opening ceremony, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques left Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah for Jeddah. He was seen off by a number of princes, ministers and senior officials.
