Polls opened in Tajikistan on Sunday, as the Central Asian country elects a new parliament, dpa reported. The party of President Emomali Rahmon is expected to retain its absolute majority. It currently has 55 of 63 seats. Election Commission officials said that 30 per cent of the 4.3 million registered voters had cast their ballot within the first three hours of polling.
