U.S. stocks closed higher Monday after the first weekly gain for equities in 2015. The dollar gained against the currencies of major U.S. trading partners. Gold futures shed $13.20 to $1,279.40 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average added 6.10, or 0.03 percent, to 17,678.70. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 5.27, or 0.26 percent, to 2,057.09. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index increased 13.88, or 0.29 percent, to 4,771.76.
