Spanish top club Barcelona cannot sign new players in 2015, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on Tuesday, dismissing a club appeal against a ruling from the governing body FIFA. Barcelona had appealed a FIFA ban over two transfer periods from August in connection with rule violations around the registration of under-age players, dpa reported. FIFA originally banned Barca in April from signing new players for two transfer periods, summer 2014 and January 2015, for having underage foreign players in their world-famous youth academy. FIA confirmed in a statement that Barca will not be able to sign players in January and summer 2015, and expressed satisfaction with the CAS ruling.
