Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held talks here today. A joint press statement was released following the talks, saying that the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them. They also called for the importance of activating the joint economic committee and other bilateral cooperation mechanisms between the two countries. The two sides also discussed a package of regional and international files of mutual concern to the two, including the situations in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen and the Palestinian Israeli conflict. The talks focused on the regional and international efforts to fight terrorism. As far as the situation in Syria is concerned, they agreed on the importance of launching the needed efforts to solve the Syrian crisis on Geneva I bases with special attention to the fact that the unity and sovereignty of Syrian territories should be preserved. The also expressed readiness to observe cooperation in the fields related to energy and petroleum.
