Qa'dah 8, 1435, Sep 3, 2014, SPA -- Major General Mansour Al-Turki, the official Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, said today that the 88 members believing in extremist thought of the terrorist cells which were recently arrested in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, consist of ten cells adopting and supporting the deviant thought, and glorifying terrorist acts, and most of them were continuing to contact terrorist organizations outside the Kingdom, indicating that among these groups, nine people arrested in Tamir, in addition to 13 Saudis and two Yemenis who formed a cell that was arrested in Makkah and Hail regions and another eight Saudis and an unidentified person who formed Riyadh-based terrorist cell, and five convicted Saudis formed a cell arrested in Asir while the rest of whom were arrested in a network formed of six cells with 51 members was about to be formed, yet they were caught in a number of the Kingdom's regions; Makkah, Riyadh, Eastern region and Qassim.
In a press conference yesterday evening held at the Officers Club in Riyadh, Major General Al-Turki said all the arrested are adopting, supporting and making propaganda for the deviant thought as well as trying to recruit youths belonging to their terrorist groups and cells, pointing out that some of them were in initial planning to murder different people, some seeking ways to flee outside the Kingdom and join terrorist organizations abroad, some representing them inside the Kingdom or glorifying their actions, some just working to recruit supporters and lure new members of Muslims from all over the world to join the deviant groups, and some of those arrested have already sent their sons to terror-inflicted areas abroad.
He stressed that the Kingdom is fighting terrorism, addressing it, working hard to prevent Saudis from joining extremist and terrorist groups, criminalizing terrorist organizations and belonging to them or supporting them, noting that Saudi youth are fully aware of and not supporters of these organizations, even if some young people were exposed to those organizations, pointing out that Saudi citizens contributed effectively and significantly in helping to report to security agencies on any suspected cases relating to those terrorist groups.
