U.S. stocks closed slightly lower Tuesday, as investors stayed cool despite continued geopolitical risks. In international economic news, European markets edged out wins. The majority of Asian markets ended with small gains. The dollar gained ground against the pound and the yen, but lost ground versus the euro. Light sweet crude oil for April delivery dropped $1.09 to $100.03 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures added $5.20 to $1,346.70 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 67.43, or 0.41 percent, to 16,351.25. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 9.54, or 0.51 percent, to 1,867.63. The Nasdaq composite index dropped 27.26, or 0.63 percent, to 4,307.19.
